Local charity Downton 4 Family is celebrating its 4th birthday this month. The charity is based in Downton and from there the service extends to the surrounding villages including Morgan’s Vale, Redlynch and Hale. The charity provides a family mentor service to families facing difficult times, as many families do. There has been an increase in the need for support as a result of the pandemic. The charity has been able to provide mentoring support as well as practical help too. Additionally, the charity has collaborated with Downton Coop and Downton Baptist Church to collect food and deliver it to Salisbury Foodbank where in turn food parcels can be collected for the families the charity supports.
Chair of Trustees, Philip Rhoades says, “Over the past 4 years Downton 4 Family have sought to offer practical support and loving care to families that often fall between the cracks in an underfunded and over stretched social care system. It is very important that families know that they are not forgotten and that they are not alone.”
